Hi Garry

Not really archaeology but…

The not so nice adventurers who travelled the Pacific in the nineteenth century. 94 year old John Dunmore, is a much published author on Pacific exploration, and has had his work recognised by both the French and New Zealand governments. His latest book, Scoundrels and Eccentrics of the Pacific details the rogues who once made the Pacific their playground in the nineteenth century, as well as some of the victims who fell prey to the unscrupulous traders.

We have been discussing a CAAA-sponsored one-day photogrammetry workshop to take place on the University of Auckland campus the day before the NZAA Conference, so Tuesday, 27 November. Discussion, demonstration and practice of field methodology in the morning, and demonstration/hands-on with Agisoft PhotoScan in the afternoon.

Dear Gary,

I would like to contribute the below link to the NZAA eNews.

https://www.facebook.com/Rooswijk1740/

It is an exciting project involving the excavation of an 18th century Dutch VOC East Indiaman shipwrecked off the coast of England in 1740. I am currently working on the project and the Facebook page is a great way to keep up to date with all the action.

Cheers,
Kurt

Contributions:

Contributions are welcome - email the editor: glawnz@gmail.com

You will see from the style the eNews consists largely of links.

Our preferred form is  a few lines at most, with a link or an email contact for further information.

At a pinch we may self-host longer documents to link in the eNews, but they must be submitted as pdf or word documents as attachments to emails. They need some processing so there may be a delay in their being used.

If you are running a conference we will usually run a link once only - and if you don't have a website for it yet, then please tell us when you have.

Relevant job advertisements are welcome - there is no charge.
